What Is Bio Oil? ? Beauty, Health and Fitness

Bio Oil is a revolutionary new product formulated to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks, scars and uneven skin tones as well as having a great effect on dehydrated and aging skin. It was launched in 2002 and has now won over 80 awards in 11 countries for its skin care results.

The main ingredients are a carefully selected blend of vitamins and oils extracted from plants that are already known for their healing properties. The ?secret? ingredient that makes Bio Oil a superior product is PurCellin oil. This helps the skin to easily absorb all of the goodness from the plant oils and vitamins, and is the reason why Bio Oil has a non-greasy texture.

The parent company is part of the ?Beauty Without Cruelty? organisation which has consistently demonstrated that all of their products are safely tested without the use of animals. They also test all of their products vigorously to ensure that daily exposure to each ingredient is safe for everyone, without side effects, and is also safe to be used by pregnant women. You must remember however, that cosmetics react differently on different skins so always test on a small area first to check for any allergic reactions.

There are many ingredients that can be found in the oil, all of which can be found on the product?s website, but just to give you an idea I have listed a few.

Bio Oil consists of four essential oils: Lavender, Chamomile, Calendula and Rosemary oil, all of which have their own healing properties and are gentle on the skin. The oil has its own unique aroma. This comes from a combination of absolutes that when mixed together has the smell of roses.

The oil contains a mixture of two important vitamins; Vitamin A, known for its ability to help cell re-growth, and Vitamin E, which is known for its anti-oxidants. The base oil is a mixture of many oils but the main one is liquid paraffin. The use of this has caused controversy over a number of years, with concerns that it shouldn?t be used on the skin. But, after many tests, it has been shown to be perfectly safe. Liquid paraffin is used as it helps to reduce the evaporation of other liquids during the heating process used when making the oil. Finally, to give the oil its distinct colour they add two colours, rose and orange. All of these ingredients are monitored individually for a period of 5 years checking for microbiological contamination.

Before launching, Bio Oil was tested on a wide selection of different people of different ages and ethnicity. The oil was also used on a number of different problem areas to check its results. The tests required the oil to be applied twice daily for a period of 8 weeks. After 2 weeks, a slight change was observed for around 95% of participants with no other treatments being used. A noticeable difference was observed at the end of the 8 week trial.

As with all cosmetic products they may not work for you just because they worked for someone else. The effectiveness of any cosmetic product depends on the type of skin it is being applied to and how the skin reacts to it. I advise that if you have any doubts that check with your doctor or dermatologist before using the oil.
